The client

Nobori Japanese Restaurant, the biggest and one of the first sushi restaurants in Cluj-Napoca, has served artful, unique dining experiences of Japanese cuisine to the local community for the last 10 years. The team of more than 35 people is hardly and passionately working to blend the Japanese traditional food into delightful contemporary dishes.

The challenge

To expand their sales channels and allow more food lovers to order, we worked to add the online ordering feature to their new website and redesign the whole online user experience.

Before this, ordering was only possible through intermediary food ordering apps and over the phone. The available channels were generating sales but the first one was not scalable and the second one was not trackable.

Additionally, Nobori was in need of an interactive digital solution for displaying the menu on iPads at the location, enabling clients to configure their orders upfront.

The objective of this project was to create an integrated system that will help Nobori Restaurant

  • increase productivity
  • serve its customers faster
  • managing orders all-in-one-place
  • increase the effectiveness of its marketing efforts

Our approach

Custom designed website

Given the large number of products and intensive activity of the restaurant, we implemented a solution capable of connecting all the available sales channels: table ordering + external food delivery app + website orders.

We built a custom web design that better organizes the content, improving user experience, and creating a user interface that will better resonate with the brand, therefore increasing the brand’s consistency.

Considering the 200+ products available in their menu, plus different meal configurations and frequent additions to their offering, our mission was to create a website that made it easy for users to navigate all the yummy options of Nobori Restaurant

Tablet ordering app

For the tablet ordering app, the keyword was: user-centric experience.
Nobori Restaurant was expanding, and the new ordering option needed to be flexible enough to accommodate future growth. The tablet app would have to be designed to allow in-restaurant customers to navigate through the whole +200 menu items, to be able to check the details of every available product and configure their order, all in one single interface, without the need of reloading the page.

Our team designed the user interface in order to streamline 14 product categories totaling over 25 subcategories, in a sidebar menu that didn’t require scrolling up or down.
Therefore the customer was able to see the entire menu at a time and focus on their order. Restaurant tablet app helps the customer to know the exact bill amount of the ordered food in advance so that there will be no unexpected surprises at the time of billing
